Self-Love – Day 4 – Self-Love Isn’t

Anytime we delve into an overused and abused term like “love”, it merits a few definitions. Specifically what it is and is not.

I only have one of each.

Love ISN’T subjective.

Love just IS.

Love isn’t subjective. It is not based on how ‘good’ our actions are or how ‘loveable’ we are. It”s not based on our past or our future, our Karma or our Dharma.

Love simply IS. It is there, whether we tap into it or not. It is there regardless of any other factor you can think of….environment, world-events, relationships, actions, reactions…

So why bother?

Why work on something that is just there? Because when we put that other word in front of it…self….it doesn’t change what it IS, it changes our relationship with it. It makes it personal.

Here’s how…

Self-Love flows through us. We don’t capture it. We don’t ‘have’ or ‘not-have’ it. The force with which it flows is directly proportional to our ability to flow any other energy. In fact, I might be so bold as to say, it is the governing force that defines how much of every other energy we CAN flow.

Self-Love is a vibration that hums in the background. It is a frequency that permeates our physical body and all of our light bodies. It is deeper than self-confidence but also a part of it. In my mind, I see a giant Venn Diagram where self-love is the center part where everything overlaps. Because everything in OUR world begins with SELF. And at the heart of it… is love.

Today, there is just one step:

  1. Consider This – Love just IS – can you accept that? Does it resonate? In invite you to hold that concept lightly in your mind today and see what happens.

Okay…I lied….here’s another thing to consider doing today…

  1. What Changes? – document or data-collect or even just make a mental note. Does holding that thought in your mind change your awareness of the world around you? How about your awareness of self?

Want a bit more reading on the subject? I have written a post here on Valentine’s Day.

I just read a quote that used Albert Einstein’s “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinkingwe used when we created them.”

It stated that “we cannot heal ourselves with the same mind that created the illness”

So, I state that if we change our minds to incorporate a different perspective, we are on our way to creating a difference in our lives.

Happy pondering!
